19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
